Lawrence Tech’s student identification card combines photo with a magnetic strip/bar code and a cash debit option that allows students to load their card with Café Cash, which can be spent at the RFoC and the Einstein Bros Bagels in the atrium of the Buell Management Building. The ID card also serves as the student’s library card and should be presented at the circulation desk when checking out books or using the Reserve Desk. Furthermore, the ID card is required to enter North and South housing.

Instructions for applying for a card are provided to new students during orientation. There is a $10 replacement charge for lost ID cards. Replacement ID cards must be purchased at the DTE Energy One-Stop Center. If an ID card is damaged and needs to be replaced, the student must present it to the One-Stop Center to have the replacement charge waived.

Lawrence Tech students can obtain their ID card from the DTE Energy One Stop Center in the Taubman Student Service Center during normal business hours. The One Stop Center will immediately take a photo and issue an ID card.

All off campus students who are unable to come into the main campus during regular office hours may obtain their student ID card by emailing the following materials to enrollmentservices@ltu.edu:

  1. A .jpg image of the student. The picture must depict the shoulders and head of the student.
  2. An image of a form of official picture identification containing the name of the student such as a driver’s license, passport, or passport card.
  3. The standard mailing address of the student. Student ID cards are mailed using standard mail unless other arrangements are made.

Students are required to have their Lawrence Tech identification card on them at all times when on University property. Students who do not have their Lawrence Tech identification card must produce some form of suitable picture identification when requested to do so by a Campus Safety officer or University official, otherwise the student must immediately leave University property. Failure or refusal to produce a Lawrence Tech identification card will result in a University violation notice.
