The SAE International Student Design Series teams – Formula SAE, SAE Formula Hybrid, Baja SAE, and SAE Aero Design –introduced their new vehicles and plane at the Blue Devil Motorsports unveiling event in the Buell Management Building atrium on April 12.

Here is the schedule for the Lawrence Tech teams competing in SAE events:

• SAE Aero Design competition in Georgia, April 27-29

• SAE Formula Hybrid competition in New Hampshire, April 30 to May 3

• Formula SAE competition at the Michigan International Speedway, May 9-12

• Baja SAE competition in Wisconsin, June 7-10

Leading this year’s Formula SAE team are Project Manager Steven Rehak and Technical Manager Aaron Hanson. Assistant Professor Giscard Kfoury is the faculty advisor.

Kurtis Morris is team leader for the Baja SAE team, and Adjunct Professor Joe DeRose is faculty adviser.

Marc Basta is the team leader for SAE Formula Hybrid, and Associate Professor Robert Fletcher is the faculty adviser.

Stephanie Shevenock is team leader for SAE Aero Design, and Associate Professor Andrew Gerhart is faculty adviser.

This year Lawrence Tech and Blue Devil Motorsports are hosting a Formula SAE team from Shanghai University of Engineering and Science (SUES).

The officers for Lawrence Tech’s SAE collegiate chapter are Marc Basta, president; Steven Rehak, vice president; and Eric Patrick, secretary. The faculty advisers are Associate Professor Kingman Yee and Assistant Professor Liping Liu.
