Get ready for your screen test on Sept. 7
Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
The annual meeting of the Detroit branch of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield on Wednesday, Sept. 7, will provide an opportunity for undiscovered actors to learn about getting into show business. After the SAG branch takes care of its annual business, it will hold a two-hour workshop on entertainment employment for Lawrence Tech students at 7 p.m. in the Science Building Auditorium (S100) at 21000 West Ten Mile Road in Southfield. There is no charge, and the event is open to faculty, staff, alumni, and the public. The workshop will be in three parts: • Kathy Connell, executive producer of the SAG Award Show, which has been aired on the TBS and TNT networks, will provide insight and practical strategies for students and others interested in producing. • A panel of professional actors will provide tips on “how to land a job” and how to avoid “the kiss of death” when seeking employment in the entertainment industry. • Directors will address “how to get the most” out of actors.
