Brian Raymond

Brian Raymond, the facilities coordinator for the College of Architecture and Design, has been selected as the Staff Member of the Month for September 2010 by the Staff Recognition Committee of the Lawrence Tech Staff Senate.

Raymond is in his 16th year at Lawrence Tech. His responsibilities include management of day-to-day, facilities-related matters and support and consultation for all audiovisual and telecommunication needs within the College, as well as off-site studio facilities. He directs and coordinates the installation and implementation of exhibits, events and accreditation visits, and he supervises a team of student assistants.

As an ancillary function, Raymond manages and curates the historic, university-owned, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills. He and his student assistants are currently in the process of restoring the exterior and interior of the Affleck House.

Brian was nominated for this award by Dan Faoro, interim chair of the Department of Architecture, who wrote of him, “Brian has been an invaluable resource in the work with Affleck House and exceeds the work requirements by researching what other similar homes are like and the type of work to be done even during his vacation hours and free time. The house and all the recent work we have done would not have been completed without his commitment and efforts.

“He is researching more renovation work and has passed on the names of prospective donors for the house to me for consideration by the Office of Advancement. He looks for any opportunity to contribute to the work and restoration efforts. He puts aside personal difficulties to maintain commitments at the University. He frequently will make changes to his schedule to accommodate last minute requests and needs of the faculty and staff.”

The Staff Council recognizes full- and part-time Lawrence Tech staff each month for their outstanding contributions to the University. Nominees exhibit professionalism, dedication, and integrity in the workplace and excel in the performance of their work duties. Nominations are accepted at any time from any Lawrence Tech constituent (staff, faculty, or student) through the Staff Senate website .
