Fifteen members have been inducted into the new Lawrence Technological University chapter of Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), a national honorary and professional management fraternity.

The new chapter is looking for volunteer projects in the community, according to faculty advisor Richard Bush.

“This fraternity brings together like-minded people with philanthropic and professional networking  interests. We want to have a positive impact on the communities we serve,” said Bush. “Key to these efforts is connecting our past alumni, current students, and business professionals to real community projects and networking opportunities.” 

Membership in the SIE chapter is not limited to Lawrence Tech students and alumni and is open to anyone interested in further promoting the field and study of management to improve society, according to Bush.

In their first meeting, the members of the SIE chapter voted to set aside 50 percent of their dues to establish a scholarship fund for management students at Lawrence Tech.

The members also extended a posthumous honorary membership to Patrick Scullion, a former professor in the College of Management at Lawrence Tech.  “Professor Scullion lived the principles and values of Sigma Iota Epsilon,” said Bush. “He shared his knowledge with everyone, bringing to life the study and practicality of management to his students and community.”

 The purpose of Sigma Iota Epsilon is to encourage and recognize scholastic excellence and to promote cooperation between the academic and practical aspects of management. For more information about the national group, go to www.sienational.com.
