Reality show seeks engineering students

Friday, February 26th, 2010

If you’re an engineering student whose summer plans are still up in the air, you might want to consider trying out for a role in “The Colony,” the Discovery Channel’s reality show about survival in a post-apocalyptic world.

“We’re looking for first-year college students, pairs (boyfriend/girlfriend, roommates, neighbors, father/son, etc.), electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and someone who comes off as an eccentric scientist,” Casting Director Andrew Kimmel said

In-person auditions will be held March 18 in Dayton, Ohio. Filming of the show will run 50 days this summer. Anyone interested can apply online at www.metalflowersmedia.com or email Kimmel at andrew@metalflowersmedia.com.

According to Kimmel, students would get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse themselves in a post-apocalyptic world where society as they know it is gone. There is no food, no water and no form of communication. They will get the chance to work with some of the brightest minds in the country on rebuilding civilization. It is the ultimate test in survival and will be physically and mentally challenging.

“Those who think they have what it takes should apply!” Kimmel said.
