Johnson named staff member of the month

![]() Mary Johnson Mary Johnson, an administrative assistant in the dean’s office of the College of Architecture and Design (COAD), has been selected as the October 2009 Staff Member of the Month by the Lawrence Tech Staff Council, the governing body of the Staff Senate. Johnson has been in the COAD dean’s office since August 2007. Her main responsibilities include handling all financial matters for the college and monitoring the budget, as well as processing payments, issuing checks and ordering supplies. Additionally, she supports the administrative needs of the department chairs. Ali Barnard, administrative assistant to COAD Dean Glen LeRoy, and Professor Daniel Faoro, interim chair of the Department of Architecture, nominated Johnson for the honor. Of her qualifications for this award, they noted: “She is always up to date in her work and has excellent administrative skills.” “Mary goes above and beyond to make sure that things are done right and on time.” “She sets a great example of what being a great employee should be and I am proud to work with her.” Mary notes of her work in COAD, “It is an honor to work with such a wonderful group of people at Lawrence Tech.” Johnson has an associate’s degree in business from Henry Ford Community College and previously worked at Providence Hospital in Southfield for 14 years as an administrative assistant to the vice president of finance. She is married with two children and enjoys shopping, bowling, and jewelry making. The Staff Council recognizes full- and part-time Lawrence Tech staff each month for their outstanding contributions to the University. Nominees exhibit professionalism, dedication, and integrity in the workplace and excel in the performance of their work duties.
